The main tasks of the laboratory are:

  • support for students during formation of their knowledge about the educational environment and educational process of the institution of preschool education and elementary school, formation of skills connected with the organization of various forms of work with children of preschool and primary school age, pedagogical interaction.
  • cooperation with preschool teachers and elementary school teachers, organization of trainings, round tables.
  • provision of information to the media about the training laboratory in agreement with the Dean of the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology and the ZNU Press Centre.

On the base of the Laboratory of Pre-school and Elementary Education a special course “Learning through play” is being implemented.

The main purposes of teaching the special course “Learning through play” are:

  • promoting students' awareness of the nature of play and activity approaches in the teaching of preschool children and younger schoolchildren;
  • formation of students' value attitude to the game, its developmental, educational opportunities;
  • acquainting students with the methodological bases of guidance of play activity of preschool children and children of primary school age;
  • formation of students' readiness to use game and activity teaching methods in preschool education and elementary school.

The result of the special course "Learning through play" is students' knowledge of psychological and pedagogical basics of game activity, characteristics of game activity, requirements for organization of game educational environment, ways of designing game activity and skills to create a game educational environment for children of preschool and elementary school age, activity of younger students in the educational process, to select and expediently apply game and activity methods for teaching, education, development and socialization of students in the educational space.

The result of the special course "Learning through the game" is that students possess knowledge of the psychological and pedagogical foundations of game activity, characteristics of game activity, are familiar with the requirements for organization of game educational environment, ways of designing game activity and have skills to create a game educational environment for children of preschool and elementary school age, to organize the activity of younger schoolchildren in the educational process, to select and expediently apply game and activity methods for teaching, education, development and socialization of students in the educational space.

The Laboratory of Preschool and Elementary Education is a unique project of the Zaporizhzhia National University, which, on the one hand, uses imitation of the educational environment of the group of pre-school education and elementary school class, and, on the other, prepares students to work with children of preschool and primary school age.

The Laboratory of Preschool and Elementary Education trains students in the following disciplines:

  • Theory and methodology of educational work
  • Preschool linguodidactics
  • Children's literature
  • Didactics of elementary education
  • Introduction to the teaching profession
  • The laboratory has playing equipment for preschool children and elementary school, methodical literature. In the laboratory there are such corners as: a mood corner, a learning corner, a reading corner, a play corner, a corner of creativity, a corner of experiences and more.
