Young scientists of the department are active in scientific competitions. For example, in December 2022, Anastasiia Dymova, a master student of the Graphic Design programme, won the Regional Competition for Gifted Youth in Science 2022 in the nomination "Art History, Architecture and Design" (category "students") with her research paper "Development of a series of illustrations on the theme of Ukrainian folklore" (sci.advisor Mykola Potapenko) and in November 2023, master's student Maksym Peshkov won with the scientific work "Illustration of the comic "The Story of a Dead Hero"" (sci.advisor Oleksandr Bryantsev).
In 2023, according to the results of the competitive selection of the Ist stage of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works, among the works in the "Design" specialty, Anastasia Lazorenko (sci.advisor Mykola Potapenko), Darya Snezhyk and Eva Trusova (sci.advisor Hanna Chemerys) received a 1st degree diploma ), Iryna Babich (sci.advisor Mykola Potapenko); 2nd degree diploma - Daria Samsyka (sci.advisor Kateryna Tarlinska), Daria Vinnyk and Kyrylo Gordienko (sci.advisor Oleksandr Bryantsev); 3rd degree diploma - Sofia Andriyash and Viktoriya Belyavtseva (sci.advisor Anna Vynogradova). In the competition of scientific papers organized by the ZNU in 2023 in the scientific direction "Humanities", student Anastasia Dymova won with the work "Ukrainian folklore and modern digital art in the project "Ukrainian Bestiary"" (sci.advisor Hanna Chemerys).
The department organised the work of student research problem groups: "Digital Design", "Development of Creativity and Artistic Thinking in Graphic Design" and "Art: Problems, Prospects, Figures".
